Our Services
01.Reading Intervention
If you child has had a diagnosis of a reading or communications disorder like dyslexia, or has other issues like ADHD, ASD, emotional or behavioral disorders, slow processing or any other circumstance that has resulted in their inability to either decode (read) written text or to understand the text, then I can offer scaffolded, explicit reading, comprehension, and fluency instruction, either online or in-person. We begin with sounds (phonemes) and move forward from that point.
02.Advanced Reading Intervention / home schooling
If your child has been through a course or program and made gains, but you want to increase fluency, comprehension, and/or writing skills, then I offer explicit instruction using to either explicit programs like EBLI activities, Visualizing and Verbalizing, or general proven Comprehension Strategies and Grammar or Composition activities to strengthen expressive language. Alternatively, I can work to help design, implement, or monitor the curriculum for a home school English course.
03.Math Tutoring
If your child has deficits in math or just finds math has been moving by too quickly to keep up with his or her peers in class, then I provide a program that strengthens basic number sense and builds skills in basic operations. The program is called Math Intervention Visually and is very similar to the theories presenting in On Cloud 9, a different commercial framework. In addition, we can continue or working with your child's current grade-level homework or coursework.
04.Generalized Reading Support (post intervention)
If your student had a good year and is performing on grade level, but you want a trained educator to provide guided reading support while they build fluency or work towards completing longer reading assignments, you can book a half hour session where your child can read aloud 20-25 minutes and we can discuss the material for 5-10 minutes if the client has questions. I can provide leveled reading passages or books (sharing my screen) or I can access a copy of the material to check for accuracy.
